How to Change Palworld World Settings

Palworld · 1 min read · ThundraNode Support

Double XP weekend? Hardcore death penalties? Chill catch rates for the casuals? Your world, your rules, here's where all the dials live.

Edit the settings

  1. Stop your server from the Game Panel.
  2. Open the Server Properties tab.
  3. Change the values you want and save.
  4. Start the server again.

Prefer editing the raw file? It's Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini in the Files tab, one long OptionSettings=(...) line of comma-separated Key=Value pairs. Edit values in place and don't add line breaks.

Popular settings

  • ExpRate: XP multiplier (e.g. 2.000000 for double XP)
  • PalCaptureRate: how easy Pals are to catch
  • PalSpawnNumRate: how many Pals spawn
  • DayTimeSpeedRate / NightTimeSpeedRate: day/night length
  • DeathPenalty: None, Item, ItemAndEquipment or All
  • ServerPlayerMaxNum: player limit
  • bEnablePlayerToPlayerDamage. PvP on/off

Your server name, server password and admin password live in the Startup tab instead, see naming your server.

Reset to defaults

Delete the OptionSettings line and restart, the server regenerates defaults. (Keep a copy of your old line if you might want it back.)
