How to Back Up and Restore Your Server

Palworld · 1 min read · ThundraNode Support

Hundreds of hours of catching, breeding and base-building live in one folder. Back it up before patch day gets a chance to ruin your week.

Create a backup

  1. Open your server in the Game Panel.
  2. Run /Save from the console so the very latest progress is on disk.
  3. Go to the Backups tab and click Create Backup.

That's it, the backup is stored off your server's live files.

Restore a backup

  1. Stop the server.
  2. In the Backups tab, pick the backup and click Restore.
  3. Start the server and verify the world in-game before deleting anything.

Manual backups (extra safety)

Your entire world lives in one folder. You can download it any time:

Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/<WorldFolder>/

Download it from the Files tab and keep a copy on your PC. To restore manually: stop the server, replace that folder with your copy, start again.

The worst time to think about backups is after a corrupted save. Make one now, and again before every game update or mod change. It takes under a minute.

When to restore

  • World corrupted after a crash or failed update
  • A raid or griefing incident you want to undo
  • A mod broke the save
  • You experimented with settings and regret everything
