How to Find Your Valheim World Seed

Valheim · 1 min read · ThundraNode Support

There's no in-game command that shows your current world's seed to a connected player. The seed gets printed once, in the server's log, when the world is first generated.

Check the console log

  1. Open Console.
  2. Scroll back to when the server first started (or the very first time this world was created, if you haven't restarted since).
  3. Look for a line mentioning the world name and seed as the world is generated.

If you've restarted many times since, the relevant line may have scrolled out of the visible log. Restarting again won't print it a second time, the seed is only logged on first generation, not on every load.

If you already know the seed you want

Set it before the world is generated for the first time. See World Modifiers and Settings for where world creation options live, or How to Upload Your Own World if you're bringing over an existing save entirely.

Still stuck?

If you can't find the seed line anywhere in your log history, open a support ticket with your server ID from the Dashboard and we can check the earlier logs on our end.
