One Palworld server can store any number of worlds, only one runs at a time, and a single setting decides which. Great for seasonal maps, testing settings, or keeping an old world retired but safe.
How world selection works
All worlds live side by side in:
Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/
Each world is a folder with a long generated name. The active one is chosen by DedicatedServerName= in Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/GameUserSettings.ini.
Switch worlds
- Stop the server in the Game Panel.
- Note the current value of
DedicatedServerName(so you can switch back). - Change it to the folder name of the world you want active.
- Start the server.
The previous world stays untouched in its folder, switching back is the same steps in reverse.
Start a brand-new world alongside the old one
- Stop the server and clear the
DedicatedServerNamevalue (or set it to a name that doesn't exist yet). - Start the server. Palworld generates a fresh world and writes its new folder.
- You now have both; switch between them any time.
Good to know
- World settings in
PalWorldSettings.iniapply to whichever world is active: rates and difficulty are per-server, not per-world. - Label your worlds somewhere (a note in the folder via the file manager works): the generated folder names tell you nothing.
- Before deleting an old world folder, download it as a backup: deleted worlds are gone for good.
