How to Set Up Java and Bedrock Crossplay (Geyser + Floodgate)

Crossplay lets your friends on phone, console or Windows join your Java server. Open Enable Cross Play in the left sidebar, click Install, and restart. That is the whole setup.

The part that trips almost everyone up is not the install. It is how Bedrock players type in the address. Skip to the address format if your server is already set up and people cannot join.

What Geyser and Floodgate do

Java and Bedrock are two different versions of Minecraft that normally cannot talk to each other.

• GeyserMC translates between them, so a Bedrock player can connect to your Java server.
• Floodgate lets those players in without owning a Java account.

The panel installs both together. You do not need to download anything.

Turn on crossplay

1. Check your Server Type is Paper or Fabric. Forge does not support crossplay.
2. Open Enable Cross Play from the left sidebar.
3. Click GeyserMC in the Plugin Setups list.
4. Look at Bedrock Port. It defaults to the same port your Java server uses, which is what you want. Leave it alone.
5. Leave Include Floodgate switched on.
6. Click Install.
7. Restart the server from the button at the top of the page.

The address format (this is the important bit)

Your Dashboard shows one combined address that looks like this:

173.214.166.150:25842

Minecraft Bedrock does not take it in that form. The Add Server screen has two separate boxes, and you have to split the address across them:

Server Address:  173.214.166.150
Port:            25842

The IP goes in the first box with no colon and no port. The number after the colon goes in the second box on its own.

This one mistake causes most "crossplay isn't working" tickets. People paste the whole 173.214.166.150:25842 into the Server Address box, then type a different number like 19132 into the Port box. It will never connect. Split it exactly as shown above.

Because the panel sets your Bedrock port to match your Java port, everyone uses the same numbers. There is no separate Bedrock port to remember.

How each player joins

• Java players connect exactly as before. See how to connect to your server.

Test it yourself from a phone before inviting everyone, and keep Console open so you can see any errors.

When Minecraft updates on your friends' devices later on, you will need to update crossplay. This happens every few months and takes one click.

If you run a heavy modpack, be aware that Bedrock players will not see any mod content even with crossplay working. Mods are Java only. If crossplay matters more than mods, use Paper with plugins instead.
