Enshrouded leaves Early Access on October 15, 2026. If you run an Enshrouded dedicated server with us, getting ready takes about two minutes. This guide covers what 1.0 means for your server, your world and your group.
The short version
- Your server updates itself to 1.0 when it restarts. There is nothing to download.
- No world wipe has been announced, but take a backup first.
- Characters are saved on each player's own PC, so they carry over.
- Crossplay with PS5 is not confirmed for launch.
1.0 release date and platforms
| Platform | Release |
|---|---|
| PC (Steam) | October 15, 2026 |
| PlayStation 5 | October 15, 2026 |
| Xbox Series X and S | Spring 2027 (planned) |
Enshrouded first launched in Early Access on January 24, 2024, and more than 5 million players joined during Early Access.
How to update your server to Enshrouded 1.0
Your server checks Steam for the newest version every time it starts. That means updating is just a restart.
- Log in to the Game Panel and open your server.
- Go to Backups and create a backup. This is your safety net.
- On launch day, press Restart on the Console page.
- Watch the console. The server downloads the 1.0 files, then starts up.
- When you see
[Session] 'HostOnline' (up)!in the console, the server is ready.
Players need to update their game on Steam too. If someone can't join after the update, ask them to restart Steam so it installs the 1.0 patch.
What happens to your world
Keen Games has not announced a world wipe for 1.0. Every Early Access update so far has kept existing worlds playable, including big ones like "Back to the Shroud".
That is not a promise, so back up before you update. If anything looks wrong after launch, you can restore the backup from the Backups page in a few clicks.
What happens to your characters
Enshrouded saves characters on each player's own PC, not on the server. Gear, inventory, skills and personal recipes come with the player to any server.
What stays on the server is the world: your bases, the Flame Altar progress, and the survivors you rescued.
What's new in Enshrouded 1.0
Keen has confirmed:
- Rebalanced boss fights
- New customization options
- New traversal options
- Longer view distances, thanks to a new rendering system
The full patch notes arrive closer to launch. We will update this guide when they are out.
Can PS5 players join your server?
Not at launch. Crossplay between PC and PlayStation 5 has not been confirmed for 1.0. Keen has described it as a possible later goal. For now, plan on your dedicated server being for Steam players.
Get ready for launch week
A full release brings a wave of new and returning players. A few things help launch day go smoothly:
- Set up early. Configure your difficulty and game settings before launch day, not during.
- Set passwords. Give your friends the right role and password so strangers can't edit your base.
- Pick the right size. A full 16-player server with big bases needs more memory than a small co-op group. Our Enshrouded server hosting plans are sized for 1-4, 5-10 and 11-16 players.
